Carrots?

I have been trying to think of easy things that I can do to stretch every dollar. I posted earlier about wanting to make my own baby food. I have spent the last week or so researching prep and storage and thought it sounded pretty easy. Last night after I put dinner in the oven, I decided to just give it a whirl. Totally easy! I didn't actually make enough to worry about trying to freeze it, but Rae seems to enjoy her food fresh just as much as she did from the jar. Here are a couple pictures of my carrot puree and one of my sweet baby after eating her fresh carrots.

Way to go Allison! I really think I'm going to do this with the next baby. My friend Annie has a post on her blog about making baby food and has a link to tips/recipes- her address is http://annieanddoug.blogspot.com/, and the post is at the very bottom I think.

That's awesome, I am totally going to do this when we have our next Baby. Thanks for the idea !

Rae is SO flippin cute, I had SO much fun holding her at the Funeral. Thanks for letting her cuddle with her favorite Aunt Kami : )

I wish I would have known that you wanted to go to the Zoo, I would have called you to come with us. But we're planning on going again in a few months when it is cooler outside. And we are planning on going sometime during the week when there won't be anyone there.

Way to go super mom! I'm thinking of doing my own baby food too to save on money. But I don't know if my cheapness or my laziness will be stronger. What a cute baby Rae. I love the hair she's getting, it's so pretty!

I attempted once and was not successful. That's all it took for me to give up and fork out the dough for premade baby food. You'll have to teach me sometime!

Well that is so impressive! I would love to learn how to make my own baby food! I bet Rem would like it better than the bottled stuff.

Hey! Thanks for the nice comment! Rem is over his colic- Hallelujah! I'm not doing weird things like trying to turn off his crying with the radio dial. Plus, he hasn't woken up in the middle of the night since he was seven weeks old, so that was pretty lucky. I have (somewhat of) my sanity back again! How's Rae doing?

that's awesome - looks just like the store bought jar stuf, very impressive. you'll have to let me know how you made it because i think i am going to do that with these next ones.

way to go, you need to post the recipe. I will be feeding Ian soon and could use it. Do you have a baby grinder? No it doesn't grind babies, but it does have a crank that grinds up any food you are eating to make it mushy enough for a baby. I think I might get one. My sister had one and loved it.

Hey Allison you'd be suprised what you can turn into baby food and what she'll actually eat. Mine both loved sweet potatoes and butternut squash, and they still do. Don't try celery, it takes forever to de-vein! Glad to see you are doing good!

Hey I just realized I was still logged in on my mom's blog, sorry if you were confused but I guess you are more used to rush than jones for me anyway!

I understand the stretching of the dollar. You are getting to be quite domesticated. Kudos to you for trying new things!
